The History of Veterans Day
Veterans Day is a U.S. legal holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. That is why Veterans Day is formerly known as Armistice Day – a U.S. legal holiday previously celebrating the official end of World War I on November 11, 1918.
It wasn’t until 1954, after both World War II and the Korean War, that Congress amended the Act of 1938. At that time, the word “Armistice” was stricken from the record and “Veteran” replaced it. Today, we honor American veterans of all wars.
And, yet, people have long confused Veterans…

IN TODAY’S MARKET, PRESENTATION MATTERS
I was having a conversation with a client that handles high end luxury car sales and we were talking about the similarities between his business and mine. He was explaining that buyers are limited for luxury used cars and he may only have one or two opportunities to sell the car in the first thirty-to- sixty days. If it does not sell, then it goes to auction and his opportunity and profit is gone. He said that he must make sure that the presentation of the car is the absolute best at any given time when it is on the lot because he never knows when that buyer opportunity may come. It seems so basic and logical yet it is something that is passed over and forgotten in the real estate industry.
If you have been…
Just imagine it! Waking up to the sound of sea and surf pounding the sand right outside your very own home. You don’t have to call ahead for reservations, you don’t need to ask anyone for a key or have a check-out time. It’s all yours to do with as you will, and you’re going take advantage of it constantly because now you own your very own vacation home.
Not to burst any vacation home-shaped bubbles, but before you get too lost in the fantasy, you need to consider some of the many pros and cons of owning a home away from home.
Vacation Homes Aren’t For Everybody

For the third time this week, you’ve found yourself cursing the unusability of your kitchen. The drawers come out in all the wrong directions, the cabinets are so shallow that you can barely use them and the entire layout just puts you off. You’re ready to talk about a kitchen remodel.
Or maybe you just want a shiny new kitchen — there’s nothing wrong with that. Shiny new kitchens are amazing and give you the opportunity to create the space you need, rather than forcing your existing kitchen to kinda sorta work.
You went to the home improvement store and found some samples of tile, backsplash and counter that you really love, but that’s about as far as your planning…

10 home Maintenance Tips for Fall
The time has come. The seasons are changing and, like it or not, Fall is here and Summer has drawn to a close (Sigh). There is an art to living like a local, and that includes being smart when it comes to seasonal maintenance on your home. Here are some things to add to your Fall “honey-do” list.1. Have your furnace inspected.
It’s smart to have your heating system serviced before you actually need to use it. Interior painting requires good ventilation, so the…
The momentum of the housing market has paved the way for cooler Autumn and Holiday Markets.
No End of Year Surge: There will not be a sudden surge in closed sales for the remainder of the year. It is that time of the year. The days are growing shorter, the leaves are changing, and Halloween decorations have emerged. Autumn has arrived. Just as the seasons change, so does the housing market. The Spring and Summer Markets are officially in the rearview mirror. There’s very little of 2018 that remains.
Orange County Housing Market Summary:
- The active listing inventory decreased by 6 homes in the past two weeks, almost identical, and now totals 7,201. The inventory finally reached a peak for 2018. Normally it peaks between July and August.

There you sit, watching “The Vanilla Ice Project” on the DIY Network when a thought bubble forms over your head. If Vanilla Ice can remodel houses on television, you could probably save yourself the expense of a pro home stager and take the job into your own hands. Your Realtor will be so impressed that she’ll probably put it on her Instagram account right away.
This is a critical decision point. Do you put down the remote control and get to work making your home presentable for buyers or do you keep watching in hopes that Vanilla Ice breaks out into random song? It’s a hard decision.
As you lean forward to turn the television off, your spouse calls to see if you picked up milk on the way home from work. Of course you…
